My daughter in law’s cat hates my son. Always has and he’s even a cat person. She hisses at him when he walks by or gets too close. I think he finally gave up and now just hisses right back at her.
They are moving and can’t take the cat so we’ve asked just about everyone in our respective states if they want a cat and everyone said no, if they said anything at all . Most just stared at me like, “Right.”
No one ever wants a cat.
Yes, we’ve prayed about this cat. A home…any home…our prayers have not been specific…we’ll take anybody anywhere. Actually, I don’t know how this issue became a “we” issue. How does this happen? Aren’t they supposed to leave after college and call occasionally and give you a little report? Does this qualify as supporting marital harmony?
Anyway, we’re getting down to crunch time. I think God loves crunch time. Last week I ate lunch with a group of ladies and one right across the table from me says to no one in particular, “I need a cat…like an adult cat.” I fell out of my chair. I hadn’t even asked her. No one was even talking about a cat or any animal for that matter.
She’s moving to a small cottage in a wooded area and she wants a cat to take care of the critters, snakes in particular. I left that particular request out of the report to my daughter in law. Is that an answer to prayer or what!
My response, once I’d sealed the deal with a year’s supply of cat food and a lawn mower and walked out of the restaurant and gotten in my car alone with God? Wonder if the cat hisses at her. Wonder if she’s allergic to cats and just never knew because she never had one. Wonder if a snake bites the cat and she’s in agony and she has to take her to a vet and it costs a fortune. The list goes on and on. It was pretty pathetic actually.
So God obviously answers a prayer, I thank Him and then begin to pick apart His wonderful answer.
This is small, I realize, but is it a pattern I usually follow?
“Isn’t that something, how about that…the check was just exactly what we needed but wonder if we get there and we need more than we’d anticipated?” “Wonder if….” What happened to just….. “Thanks.” “Thanks and if the cat hisses at her, her face swells up, a snake bites the cat…whatever, we’ll just cross that bridge when we come to it…can’t wait to see how You’ll solve that problem too.” “Thanks for the check and if we get there and need more, can’t wait to see how You’ll provide that too!”
Someone said it takes 21 days of practice before something becomes a habit.
I’m starting today.
