The cat traveled cross country hissing at my son who in turn, tormented her back. In deference to the cat, it was probably vice versa….my son tormenting and the cat hissing in response. Do guys ever outgrow this? Miraculously, my daughter in law was still in the car with both the cat and my son when they drove up. I think I would have gotten out of the car and taken a bus along about Topeka, Kansas.
The Reveal was the afternoon of their arrival. My friend was waiting. I’m sure she was as nervous as I, that this whole thing would work, but she hid it well. One verbal person was enough. One verbal stalwart Christian (right…) who had a long history of God answering prayers, but was having a hard time trusting God…. for a cat for Pete’s sake. We’re not talking about trusting God for a good lab report, for a healthy baby, for the flood waters to recede before they reach my house….life and death issues. This was for a cat. How hard could that be?
This follow up is to prove that no prayer is too small or insignificant in God’s eyes and that… He does not miss any opportunity to continue to teach us, me... about His faithfulness…something that has been demonstrated over and over which should have produced rock solid belief…no matter the circumstance.
He answered my prayer. He gave us a sweet lady to adopt the cat. This is the unsolicited note I received the next day.
“Just a short update on Tobi …she hid behind the couch all day yesterday, but, during the night she came out and opened every cabinet door. She is a curious cat! She is eating…I gave her the 'appetizer' last night and we are just giving her space. I think I will fix her a ball of yarn and see if that will entice her to come out and play. Have a good day!”
Oh ye of little faith.
Often we think that an answered prayer is the end all. Sometimes it’s not. Sometimes we worry even after He’s answered our prayer.
But if God clearly answers our prayer, then it’s almost like the lady who raises her hand at PTA and volunteers to chair the Fall Festival. It’s now her baby. She’s not only the answer to the President’s prayers…but she is the go to person for every facet of the event…before and after. She is responsible for providing leadership from planning to clean up. If there is a question or anything goes wrong, she’s the one people go to for direction. The President has bowed out of this equation.
God raised His hand and said, “I have just the right lady for this cat." Now it’s His baby. He’s responsible for the event and is the go to person for every facet of this exchange. He will provide leadership from planning to delivery and beyond. If I have any questions or if anything goes wrong, I go to Him for direction. What a deal.
Often it’s not the big stuff that’s hard, it’s the little stuff as well. But what a faithful God…what a longsuffering, faithful God!
