Mark 16 - Alive!

It is early morning on the third day following Jesus’ crucifixion.

Three women make their way to the tomb, wondering aloud as they walked who would roll away the stone, if the three of them could push it enough to open a space to allow entry. They were coming to finish preparing the body.

When they arrived, the tomb was empty.

He is alive. Just like he said.

For the sake of argument, let’s just say this all really happened. So what….what’s the big deal?

The big deal is it means he was right when he told them he’d be delivered to evil men, be crucified, but rise from the dead….it happened.

It means the price for my sin was paid in full. God accepted his death as payment and then raised him from the dead.

It means he is alive today. We don’t bow to a replica of a dead person, but we speak to a living God.

It means I now have access to God because of Jesus and am able to have a one on one relationship with Him as Father.

It means we are never alone. “When I (Jesus) leave you, I will send a comforter, the Holy Spirit, who will be with you and teach you and bring to your remembrance all I said to you.” We will never have to search to see if he’s wandered off, if we’re now on our own, he will always be right there…within us. No matter what. He said, “I will never, never, never leave you or forsake you.”

It means when we read promises in His Word, he speaks them to our hearts, and we know beyond a shadow of doubt that they are true and I can claim them for myself. And there is evidence in our lives when we do. Unmistakable, unshakeable, rock solid evidence.

It means when we fail, which we will do because we are human, He is there to pick us up, dust us off, teach us, love us and send us back down the right path. Just like an earthly father.

It means when I pray, He hears, He listens, He understands because His understanding is infinite. He made me, He understands me.

It means when no other love satisfies, His love will fill my heart and joy will flood my soul.

It means He is my shepherd and leads me, not pushes me, not sends me out on my own, but leads me even though the path sometimes goes through valleys that if not death itself, surely feels like it. Yet He is there and comforts me and brings peace to my soul that surpasses all understanding.

It means I am changed to the uttermost because God has moved in. How can God Almighty move into my life and everything stay the same? It cannot!

We have completed the book of Mark and it began with the statement, “The beginning of the gospel (the good news) of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.”

Do you believe he is?

If you do, then tell Him in simple words that express your heart.

It will be the start of an incredible journey.
